Climate Science for Beginners
Posted on September 9th, 2009 5 commentsNATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC : GLOBAL WARMING 101 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJAbATJCugs
Each year the Climate Camp run a wide-ranging agenda of workshops, with subjects from Climate Change Policy to how to build efficient camping “rocket” camping stoves.
Here follows the text and graphics from this year’s “Climate 101″ workshop. Do follow up the sources and check when you encounter the myths and ask yourselves why they are still being propagated.

Drax Coal Train Protesters
Posted on September 4th, 2009 1 commentSo, what do you think would be appropriate Community Service orders for the 29 men and women who held up the coal train to Drax “the Destroyer” power station in June 2008 ?

Should they be sentenced to build a straw bale, lime and mud community centre in Liverpool ? Should they be required to host Permaculture seminars in inner London ? Should they be asked to take part in leafletting and campaigning for the 10:10 campaign ?

Something For The Weekend ?

Dead Kennedy
Posted on August 26th, 2009 No commentsPipped to the news post by other events of global import, social action on Climate Change got completely wiped off the map today.
The necessary Media footage of violence featuring the Police, intended to diffuse tension built up by the BBC and others over the week, was nicely provided by football hooligans, saving anyone having to trump up some charge about the Climate Campers.

Camped On Your Doorstep
Posted on August 25th, 2009 No commentsWhat would you do if you met a Climate Camper face to face ? And how could you be sure ? Would they have dreadlocks ? A facepainted clown face, raggedy, dirty clothes ? Would they be shouting ?
More to the point, would they be getting in your face ? Or in your way ? Would they be threatening or violent or extremely negative ? Or would they offer you a cup of tea and a nice wholemeal organic flapjack ?

Message To You, Rudy
Posted on August 24th, 2009 1 commentWell, the Metropolitan Police in London have tried a charm offensive to make nice with the Climate Camp before it all kicks off. Or have they ? Many Campers have been suspicious of the softly, softly propaganda, and have put together a little message to give right on back to the Met, and it reads a lot like this :-

G20 Climate Camp – Splash Update
Posted on April 1st, 2009 No commentsI’m getting reports of people with an outline plan to take a skinny dip in the fountains in Trafalgar Square.
Apparently, to raise the profile of Carbon Trading, they’re going to paint themselves with some kind of black paint, or black marker pen, and splash about shouting something like “Carbon Trading doesn’t wash !”

G20 Climate Camp – The Positive People
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsThe London Press today have been thumbscrewing public opinion down against the G20 demonstrations – with fear-laden messaging and nasty tagging of protestors as “violent”.
I’ve overheard several conversations today between various casually dressed office workers moaning about tomorrow’s happenings.

Climate Camp G20 : Yes, but is it Art ?
Posted on March 22nd, 2009 No comments“The Russian Revolution was accompanied by a remarkable period of artistic experiment known as Constructivism, which questioned the fundamental properties of art and asked what its place should be in a new society. The Constructivists…looked at how they could contribute to everyday life through design…”
So murmurs the small booklet handed out at Tate Modern to accompany the “Rodchenko & Popova” exposition galleria “Defining Constructivism”.
And it’s Big Art all over again in 2009 as we witness the construction of yet more Climate Camp settlements : the art of constructing the future right in your neighbourhood, down amongst the fading idiocy of what passes for modern “built environment”.
Prince Charles should be pleased with us : we’re taking architecture on, head on, and camping our way to a sustainable mode of community infrastructure.
