    Jo Abbess, aged 3.5

    Notetaker

I have been writing since the age of three.

    I like writing.

    Yes, I’m lefthanded.

    Change Activist

I consider myself a change activist in the field of Climate and Energy, playing various roles in enabling the Social Change that must happen.

I hope to help people get their heads around the radical changes that are coming to us, whether we call for them or not.

My aim is that we should all Be Prepared.

    Education and Career

My formal education was in Physics, majoring on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Electromagnetics and Electronics. My career has mostly been a mix of systems and software engineering.

I do Oracle, Java, UNIX and C.

    Yes, I am a geek.

    Voluntary Work

I have done a considerable amount of voluntary work, starting in Church communities and then taking on Development and Trade Justice campaigning.

    Environmental Focus

In the last five years I have concentrated on Climate and Energy activism, introducing the priority of the Global Warming and Peak Oil problems to a wide range of audiences and constituencies.

One of my aims has been to facilitate groups in working collectively across their ideological divides.

    Find the Strange One

Here is a portion of a scan of the photograph taken for my Physics graduation class.

    Three questions :-

    (1) Which University did I study at ?
    (2) Which year was it taken ?
    (3) Which one is me ?

Yes, I am a redhead. And I am wearing black tie [tuxedo] and John Lennon round sunglasses, and yes, my hair is cut short on top.

    Blending into the Background

These days I find I am quite invisible.

I seem to fit an easily dismissable stereotype.
